Athletes may have an increased need for vitamins and minerals. This is because more important substances are excreted with perspiration. This need should be replenished after physical exertion. A vitamin D3 deficiency can develop, especially in winter or if you regularly spend time indoors. The 2008 National Nutrition Survey showed that 91% of women and 82% of men in Germany have a vitamin D3 deficiency.
