Maca - The Power of the Tuber

Maca is a tuber from the mountainous region of South America. There, the use of maca, also known as Peruvian ginseng, has a long tradition. Thus, the root was already used in the days of the Incas and before as a power-giving food or as a medicinal plant. Nowadays it is one of the most popular supplements worldwide. A special feature of the maca plant is its cultivation site dar. As the only food plant it grows at over 4000 meters altitude and is thus exposed to the most extreme weather conditions. Perhaps this is the reason for the special nutrient composition of the Maca tuber. It consists mainly of starch and sugar, but also contains essential amino acids, vitamins, various fatty acids, minerals and a large amount of the minerals zinc, iron, calcium, iodine, copper and manganese. Due to the high nutrient density, maca is wonderfully suitable as a dietary supplement. For the production of Maca powder, which is the basis for dietary supplements, only the white to reddish memory root is used, as only there, the important nutrients are included. The variety of different ingredients also expresses different effects that can be caused by a supplementation with maca. In South America, it is primarily considered a medicinal plant that strengthens the immune system. In other places, where the maca powder is used, one wants to take advantage of the stress-reducing effect of the tuber. Especially in this day and age, when stress is becoming an ever-increasing, performance-limiting factor, Maca aims to increase performance. But not only in everyday life you use maca, but also in sports. There, too, it is now one of the most popular supplements. In general, athletes, both from the strength as well as from the endurance area, who use Maca feel more vital and efficient, which is probably due to the high carbohydrate content of the Powerknolle. Thus, supplementing with maca provides the body with extra energy. In sports nutrition, maca is often offered in powder or capsule form. In order to achieve an ideal effect by maca, the regular intake over a long period is recommended.
